Growing Chilli Peppers From Seed:

Growing chillies from seed is a great fun way to get into gardening and a lot easier than most people think. This article describes some great tips to ensure y chilli seeds ate and grow into strong pts that will give you a good yield of fruit.

Sce some quality Seeds

You can simply cut open a fresh chillie pod and pt the seed and it is likely you will get some success. However second generation pts such as this are much m susceptible to disease and mutated fruit than purposefully produced seeds. For these reasons you best bet to ensure healthy pts is to buy y seeds from a respected
chilli seed
supplier.

St Y Seeds Correctly

Seeds that are std correctly can be std for several years with no big impact on ation rates. Ensure any seeds you buy are std in an airtight and light proof container that is placed in a cool dry atmosphere such as in the garage.

Genate in the heat

Chilli pts love heat. In lower temperatures seeds can take much lon to ate, sometimes up to 6 weeks depending on the variety. Generally this ation time can be reduced by placing the seeds in a warm place during ation. Somewhere like on top of the refria or on a pc moni will expose the seeds to an environment that is at least a couple of degrees warmer than room temperature, giving you seedlings earlier!

Know their needs

Once you seeds have developed their needs change. Straight away they need light, the m the better. Check y seeds twice a day and as soon as you see a couple of them sprouting move the seed tray onto a windowsill in order to get the new seedlings light as soon as possible. Do not put y pts out into a greenhouse until they have their second set of leaves. It is only at this point that their reliance on heat lessens and their primary concern is light.
