These items are easy to use; materials are readily available from your pantry, very economical, safe for your family and the environment, and works just as effective as its chemical based counterpart.
While we may have heard about them before but was a bit skeptical to use, these natural based cleaners are just as effective. Chemicals may actually do more harm to your household items, while burning holes in your pockets as well.
We have listed below simple and fun recipes you can use to clean major areas of your home using simple items in your kitchen such as vinegar, soda, and even olive oil. If these items are edible and does not cause harm o our body, so definitely these items will be gentle on your glass, bath tiles, and the rest of your home.
To clean floors:
Mop vinyl, laminate or ceramic tiled floors with 8tbsp of vinegar diluted in 3 liters of hot water.
To clean carpets:
Combine vinegar and water at equal amounts. You can blot the area using kitchen roll until becomes moist. Repeat if necessary. This solution will also remove pet odors from your carpet.
To clean wood:
You have to mix olive oil and lemon juice on equal amounts. Spray with a bottle onto your furniture and rub off with a clean piece of soft cloth.
To clean glass:
Combine 2 to 3 tablespoons of vinegar with warm water. To prevent cloth fibers from sticking to the glass, use dry crumpled newspaper instead for a shimmering, fiber-free finish.
For vases: Put in 1tbsp of vinegar and fill with warm water. Leave to soak for 10 minutes. Rub with a soft cloth then rinse.
Toile bowls and cream of tartar face-off
Just a couple of level tablespoonfuls sprinkled round the bowl and over the water removes lime scale and keeps it lime scale free for quite a while!
In keeping your toilets clean, sprinkle it with a handful of bicarbonate of soda. The next day, you can use a clean damp cloth to clean it, then rinse and wipe off using another clean towel.
For shower doors, baths and tiles:
Tackle body oils and soap scum with two parts soda to one part vinegar or lemon juice. The thick paste should be applied with a damp cloth. Leave for 10 minutes then rub with a brush or sponge.
While major home areas need to be protected, it is important to look also into your cabinets, water tubes, basements, and windowsills. The tiniest open breeding ground can make your home very susceptible to mold growth, eventually damage to your home, equipment, clothes and valuable furnitures and homesakes, and most alarmingly, to you and your family's health. While it may just be a matter of habit, using natural cleaning products can be developed as a habit as well. Make it a point to at least try one and eventually, your home will be maintained using natural products already.
