Growing and caring for bonsai trees has become quite popular over the last few years. Many people see it as something relaxing and fun to do. There are many different types of bonsai to choose from and depending upon the type and what they are kept in, can be kept relatively small. Due to the fact that they can remain so small makes that a popular home decoration because they don't take up much room.

Provide Enough Sunlight

Many bonsai trees are best suited to be kept inside the home rather than outside. There are a few species that are able to do well in outside conditions, however they still need to be cared for and watched over even when outside. Providing ample amounts of natural sunlight is one of the best things that you can do for your bonsai. Make sure that you place it in an area inside of your home where it gets access to sunlight for most of the day.

Watering your Bonsai Tree

Watering your tree is also an essential part of keeping it healthy and growing. Depending upon the type of species of bonsai that you have can determine how often you water it. The Jade Bonsai Tree holds a lot of water in it's leaves and trunk so requires less watering compared to other bonsai. Water your bonsai too much and it could end up dying. Generally you want to make sure that the soil that your bonsai is in is completely dry before watering again. During the cooler fall and winter months less watering is needed due to the fact that evaporation slows down. Your tree can survive quite well being watered once every 2 to 3 weeks during the cooler months of the year. Spring and summer can see watering frequencies around once a week depending upon how warm it is in your area.

Soil For Your Bonsai

To ensure that your bonsai grows to it's full potential, you should provide it with an organic compost mixture. Mixing about 75% inorganic material along with 25% organic or peat compost will give your tree the best chance at growing. As the tree continues to grow it will require a new pot about every 2 or 3 years. Of course if it is growing quicker and needs a bigger pot don't hesitate to move it as leaving it could severely hinder it's growth rate and eventually kill it.
